Preserving freshness

An age old practice aimed at preserving freshness and longevity of the sealed product. With that in mind, the major benefit of sealing a bottle with wax is the fact it’ll create a lasting, air-tight and moisture resistant seal. In addition, the bottled product will also be considered tamper evident.

Versatile look

On top of the functionality, sealing wax will add a unique look to the bottled product. Not to mention the wax can be colour matched to a brand label or to highlight a particular aspect of the overall packaging design – It’s available in a huge range of colours and finishes including pearl, metallic, matte, gloss, opaque.

Unfortunately, the current blend of bottle sealing wax is inert and not readily biodegradable or made fully from sustainable materials.

However, that being said, I’ve been developing an alternative blend that is made from 100% sustainable waxes and polymers I hope to release in the near future.

If you’d like any more information on this blend or would like to stay updated on the progress, drop me an email

On average, approximately 8g is used per dip – this will vary depending on how far down the bottleneck you dip and the working temperature of the wax. (hot wax will apply a thin coat, whereas cooler wax will apply a more dense finish).

It’s also worth mentioning that, depending on the desired depth of the dip and the size of the vat, you may need a couple kilos of wax in the tank/pot to achieve the right depth.

Around 70°c is the sweet spot – application at this temperature looks great, and it congeals fast for working efficiencies. Handily enough, working at these temperatures also means it’s safe and will be easy to clean if you unfortunately spill any wax.

Bear in mind that the work environment will affect the optimal temperature of the wax, seeing that’s the case, allow a variable of a few degrees Celsius at each side.

Yes, the bottle sealing wax materials adheres to all European and FDA requirements. Please contact us to request data sheets.

Yes, the pigments have UV stabilizers in them, helping to keep the true colour over years. That being said, under certain circumstances the colour will fade at a accelerated rate, with this in mind, I wouldn’t recommend storing in direct sunlight.

The hand dipped aspect of the process exhibits the traditional craftsmanship often associated with the luxury drinks industry. On top of that, the process is easy to scale and numbers well into the thousands can be dipped each day with the right set up and trained people.

I also believe that people are way more efficient, especially vs semi-automated machines.

Hand Dipped

Pros – Versatile finish, unique in the sense each dip will be slightly different, cheap initial investment, easy to train people, easily scalable.

Cons- requires a couple pair of hands, people get tired

Machine dipped

Pros – uniform dip, larger automated line-machines are available

Cons – Huge initial investment, most machines are only semi-autonomous and require a person to manage, generally less efficient unless you have large industrial machinery

I believe this would be a question of scale and practicability, it will differ depending on a few factors. if you’d like any recommendations on equipment or set up, please feel free to get in contact and we can help you based your scale of production
